Got any excellent 15-minute recipes?

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009
tttt asked:

Title of the thread is self-explanatory. Give me recipes (the healthier and the tastier the better) that can be prepared in fifteen minutes, because I’m in a bit of a culinary ideas drought at the moment.

As an example, I am currently eating pasta primavera (ziti with parmesan, tomatoes, spinach, and zucchini) in a quick-fired olive oil-and-herb sauce. All it involved was chopping up some vegetables, warming some olive oil and herbs, and cooking the veggies with the pasta before stirring it into the saucepan and adding the cheese.

I generally cook on a stovetop, as opposed to baking. I like food from different cultures, and I am not afraid of spices. Thanks in advance!
Addendum: Grits, beets, lima beans, and sausage need not apply. :)

What can I cook my boyfriend for dinner that is special?

Friday, May 15th, 2009
and then I said asked:

These are the things he does not eat:

Ground beef, sausage, spicy seasoning, curry powder, mayonnaise, miracle whip, pickles, mushrooms, olives, nuts, salad dressing (he doesn’t necessarily mind it as a marinade though) - those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.

He particularly loves:

Chicken, corn, potatoes, steak, fish (no tuna), shrimp, broccolli, white bread, pasta, cheese, lettuce, crab, lobster, crackers, fruit snacks, apples.

Any suggestions on something i can make him? I’m so over eating chicken, corn, and macaroni and cheese every night. I need some new recipes to work with and I know someone must have something out there! P.S. I’m Italian so I have done the baked ziti, lasagna, chicken parmesan, etc. for him before.

What are some good meals to make and eat as left overs?

Just Jess asked:

My boyfriend and I will be moving into a condo on the 9th of october. He tends to eat a lot of fastfood becuase hes not the greatest cook in the world..he doesnt like to cook at all!

I’d like to start making dinners at home so that the two of us can sit down and enjoy a nice meal together. I’m 21 years old and have grown up around a lot of people who enjoy cooking. I’m a decet cook myself once once I know the recipe - and as long as I’m comfortable with the ingredients.

I do work as well as attend full time college classes. Some nights I will not be home until 10pm! Most nights I will be home around 6:30-7ish.

I’d like to get into the habit of making something on the weekends that my boyfriend can just heat up throughout the week rather than doing fast food. This will also save me the trouble of cooking for myself at 10pm when I get out of school and am hungry for dinner.

I am comfortable with most vegetables, pastas, rice, chicken, and ground turkey (i prefer it over ground beef)…

Some recipies I have that stay nicely are Mexican Rice (A recipe my mom sourt of created, being a vegetarian she often tried comming up with new things)….
Baked ziti (with or without ground turkey added)
Chicken pot pie (home made)
Eggpant parm
Chicken noodle soup (home made)
Any other ideas??

What should I make for dinner tonight?

??? ??? ??? asked:

I’m stuck! I can’t decide what to make my husband and I for dinner tonight.

Here is what we have had so far:
Saturday- BBQ Chicken Quesadillas
Sunday- BBQ Beef Crescents
Mon & Tues- Baked Ziti
Wednesday- Chicken Tenders and Rice

What in the world should I make?! I am still kind of new to cooking (a newlywed) so I am not like Paula Dean and cant make extravagant recipes, so simple yet creative would be nice.

We like pretty much all meats, although I am not a huge fan of red meat - I still eat it though in small amounts.

Also please give me recipes or directions to find a recipe for whatever you suggest, unless it is really simple!

Thanks! =)

I’m really sick of eating the same thing. I asked this before, but didn’t get too far. I’m going to the store in a little bit and I need some ideas. I have a 21 month old, and he normally eats what I eat. We really like pasta. But we only normally eat it with Ragu with hamburger(and some seasonings). So any other pasta ideas would be great! Also maybe some chicken ideas and a healthy idea or 2.
I was thinking of baked ziti, but I’m really picky, so I’m affraid of using a different sauce or something. If somebody knows of a REALLY good recipe let me know!
I was thinking maybe a stir fry type too, but i hate soy sauce :-\ can it be avoided? Also any type of good rice dish.
everybody can be picky in their own way. i didn’t ask if you liked Ragu. Plain Ragu IS pretty nasty, but get the mushroom and add seasonings and 85/15 hamburger and its really good
Sister~ That asian style idea sounds really good!
Yea, I’ve tried other sauces and haven’t really liked any of them.

Mary~ I yea, I do that chicken idea. I make soup the next day. Thanks :-)

Attention all Italiano’s?

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008
Soldier’sWife asked:

I am making baked ziti tomorrow night for dinner for my Italian husband. I have a few recipes, however, some of them are all a bit different. Some are saying to pour sauce first, then ziti, ricotto, and mozzarella. Then some are saying mix sauce with ziti, then pour ricotto and mozzarella. They are all a tad bit different. Which way do you prefer to pour all the ingredients in and how do you bake your baked ziti. Thanks a bunches.
