Do any women cook gourmet meals or are men the gourmet cooks in relationships?

Ye B asked:

Are any women gourmet cooks or is this a man thing?

“seriously, most men i know are really into cooking & are amazing chefs!! these guys are like Gordon Ramsey wanna-bes…I can follow a recipe- but its a far cry from anything gourmet!! LOL”

There are men who cook everything from brisket, steak, chicken cordon bleu, rack of lamb, chicken picatta, carbonara, homemade chicken noodle soup, stir fry, salmon steaks, halibut, fried fish, baked ziti, lamb chops, pork chops, potatoes au gratin, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, lasanga, to chocolate mousse, apple pie, creme brulee, tiramisu, homemade truffles, scones, cookies, cream puffs, fudge, brownies, cheesecake chocolate muffins to making cocktails, fresh bread, and fresh jams, and homemade cream cheese.

Are there any women who are into gourmet cooking? Can any women cook like this? Which gender is more likely to do this?

Are there relationships where the man doesn’t know how to cook and the woman is a gourmet/amazing cook/baker? Because I see the vice versa happening ALL the time.

My husband is master of the grill & smoker (though I just made a perfect medium rare NY Strip). He’s also really good in the kitchen with other things, but especially the main meat course.

I am the baker in the family. I love baking cupcakes, cookies, pies & cakes. I am a good cook, but don’t enjoy cooking nearly as much as my husband does.

In my relationship we do it together. I usually cook more. But my parents on the other hand… my Dad is a wonderful cook. My mom burns mac n cheese! To each his own, everyone is different.

    You sound really hungry….lol

In my life, my bf does not do any gourmet cooking and neither do I….but my mom does. My dad is a pretty good cook too, but I wouldnt call it gourmet.

I wish my hubby knew how to cook. Well, he can cook easy small stuff like mac and cheese, but if he wants a real dinner, I’m the chef! LOL I love exploring foods and trying new things. I love creating my own dishes too. :-) I can’t cook like Gordon Ramsey, but I can cook awesome meals and I can bake as well!
I see the cooking shows, and I love watching HELLS KITCHEN, and even the advertisements for Culinary Schools, really get me going on thinking up new and creative ideas. I love watching Rachael Ray too! She’s awesome and I’ve tried some of her recipes! YUM-O!!! as she would put it!

It would be awesome if my hubby was interested in learning more, but he isn’t. And that’s fine with me. I love cooking for my family and watching their faces light up when I’ve cooked something great and delicious!

Interestingly enough, it seems that there are more gourmet
    men cooks than women…
And in general, more good cooks seem to be men…
That is certainly not to say that there are no good women cooks…

I cook every single night, unless we go out for dinner. I really enjoy cooking. And like to experiment and make up new things. Its one of the ways that I take care of my family. My husband does not like to cook and claims he doesn’t know how. But there are times that he has and I really love his cooking. My husband contributes in his own ways. He really keeps up with the house hold duties, does laundry, while I am at work.
I am a Journeyman Baker. That is my job. So I don’t bring my work home with me. And he too once was a baker. But if we want Baked goods, we will buy it. And I have probably baked it off that day.

Honestly, my husband is a better cook than I am. We are not gourmet by any means, but he is a good cook.

I have a few things I can cook.

I like to bake. In fact, I LOVE to bake.

    So it works well. :-)

I do quite a few french dishes, but not every night and they are simple and come with a cream sauce which my partner absolutely drools over when he sees me cooking one of these dishes. I also do dishes like Apricot chicken or roast a rabbit. My partner also loves to cook and he does a smoked fish and scallops in a white sauce. Yummy
